One theme has permeated each of my experiences over the past four year at Anderson University: exposure. I have been exposed to knowledge, ideas and realities that have challenged my beliefs, values and pre-conceived notions in every way. This exposure has come through my experiences in the classroom, on campus, and in the greater Anderson community. However, exposure to challenging knowledge, ideas and realities is not enough. As beneficiaries of an excellent education, the one we have received at Anderson University, we have a responsibility to act upon this exposure, to respond to the things we have seen, to uphold the positive principles and practices we have encountered during our time in this place, but more importantly, to do everything in our power to eradicate the destructive and harmful realities in our society as to pursue a more compassionate, loving and just world. |
